It is a great pleasure for me to launch this website of Neuro Spinal Surgeons Association (NSSA).
I have dedicated my life to the development of Neuro Spinal Surgery in India and propagate it to the World.
In 2009 I held an International Conference on Spinal Surgery in Goa where stalwarts from the World like RB Cloward (USA), PM Lin (USA), Carlson Schneik (USA), Roy Camille (France), JCY Lezennec (France), Alartair Robson (Australia), Gale Curtis (New Zealand), Miyuki Takeda (Japan), RM Kalbag (UK), Arthur Steffee (USA), Thomas Pentelenyi (Hungary) had attended the conference.
Since then Pedicle Screws become popular in India after myself and Arthur Steffe held 3 days live operating course in Mumbai.
I held several activities in India and abroad since then.
In the year 2000 I held a very big conference in Mumbai at Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre where 64 overseas delegates from 23 countries had participated.
It was at this time I felt we should organize ourselves with a Group and Neuro Spinal Surgeon Foundation was established in co-operation with Dr Kailai Rajan from Madurai. For 10 years we held several activities including annual conferences but we had kept the organization to ourselves.
In the year 2009, knowing the deficit I have started Journal of Spinal Surgery in India. At present it is quarterly and already listed and quoted by Google and distributed throughout the world. It has become extremely popular as can be judged by various articles received for publication from all over the world.
It has International Editorial and Advisory Board and is peer reviewed.
Now I felt, New Spinal Surgery has matured in India and as elsewhere technology is extremely well advanced in this country.
Time is right to put a step forward and establish a National Organization with involvement of most of the Neuro Spinal Surgeons in India in decision and policy making. With this view, Neuro Spinal Surgeons Association has been established. It has National and state wise committees and has several advisory Committees like finance, education, website etc.
It is my aim to get all neighbouring countries involved in our organization, establish better cooperation with South East Asia and eventually collaborate with various World Spinal Organizations.
With me as Chairman of WFNS World Spine Committee, I have better access to the World community and hope to utilize it to propagate our concepts.
Here forth elections will be held regularly for all administrative posts in the organization.
It is my aim, through this Association, to promote Spinal Surgery Education, Research, Presentation, Propagation, Publication and communication with lay people as well as National and International Spinal Surgery Community.
May God be with me.
